Show TO GOLDFIELD DEEP SHAFT concreting the deep mines shaft which the company has had under consideration for fo several months is to be started immediately immedi tely as it is thought there will not be enough severe weather for the remainder of the winter to interfere with the work says the goldfield tribune the concreting will wili be a long step in cutting the cost of the sinking and it is a move for economy greater efficiency and safety the concreting will start at the foot level and the shaft will be treated to the 1400 wire netting will be placed around the shaft and the material will be applied with a cement gun three coats will be put on making a thickness in all of one inch sinking could have been continued indefinitely without the use of concrete afis it is not a necessity but a move for greater Igi eater economy in the big enterprise and more than the cost cos t of the work will be saved in reduced upkeep costs which will be cut to a minimum not only will the air and water be kept from the timbers and ground but the costly shaft will be absolutely fireproof A conduit to carry the water will be placed inside the concrete this will be constructed first to foot level and then to the bottom the conduit with feeders will be built into one corner of the shaft |
