Show BUNKER HILLS NEW POWER PLANT the new power house of the bunker mill hill sullivan mining company at kellogg idaho is of brick by 30 feet it was built entirely by local workmen supervised by fred frd porter of kellogg the only contract being with the hoy ha mason hardware company of spokane which supplied the roof power is obtained from the washington power company volts being received at a substation sub station where it is stepped down to 2300 volts and sent on three wires to the power house for distribution to the motors there are now in in use electric motors to be prepared in case of failure to receive power at the substation sub station the building is equipped with two genera enera tors driven by steam turbines capable of developing 2000 hores power steam being supplied by six heine water tube boilers of horsepower each this equipment cost low here also are two motor generators used to supply suppa current for the mine trolley system overhead is a giant giac crane which can convey pounds the basement contains all auxiliaries for steam turbines fire alarms are rung here and the engineer blows a siren to indicate location of the fire altogether it is is a splendid plant clean spacious one of the finest in the wes vest and visitors are assured a welcome and courteous treatment trea tnie from the engineer edginee r in charie charge |
