Show STATE MINE INSPECTOR RETIRES after sixteen years of service continuous with the exception of two years robert N bell state mine inspector of idaho will retire at the close of the present term this announcement was made by mr bell at boise recently when he stated that he would not be a candidate for reelection election re mr bell will continue to make his home in B boise olse where he will maintain an office and give his attention to the practice of his profession as a mining geologist and engineer it is not surprising that mr bell has decided to retire says an idaho exchange the surprising fact is that he has served the state so long on such meager compensation compared with the importance of his duties the ability required for their performance and the value of his service to the state the salary of the mine inspector is per month with allowance for actual expenses while traveling he has of course an office in the capitol or will have one when that building is completed and his clAr clerical ical assistance consists of a stenographer but no field assistant in spite of this handicap of small pay and no assistance in the field mr bell has managed to make annual visits to all mining sections of the state which means practically eveaj county and compile the information gathered in his annual reports which have proved a most important factor in drawing capital to the state for the development of the mining resources |
