Show MINERAL RESEARCH WORK IN IDAHO F field partle parties s from the idaho state bureau of mines and geology will be at work in many parts of the state this summer according to statement issued by francis A thomson dean of the university school of mines and executive of the state bureau at moscow idaho in washington county professor D C livingston and party are engaged in a geological survey of the heath copper district which has been attracting considerable attention recently in the snake river canyon mr R W berry of the U S geological survey is completing the topographic map of the seven devils area begun last year in the payette weiser area dr J P buwalda of the U S geological surey survey and assistants will shortly be engaged in the study of of the tertiary lake beds of western idaho with particular reference eren celo to the gas resources and possible oil 0 ia occurrences in this area in shoshone county mr A W fahrenwald of the U S bureau of mines staff is carrying on operative cooperative co investigations in connection with the application of the metal surgical lurg ical investigations of the last two years to the milling practice of the coeur dalene mines in custer and blaine counties an exam will be made of the ore deposits and metallurgical problems of the sawtooth and adjacent areas in bonner county assistance will ba given to the idaho continental mine in th solution of their slime treatment problem leni and in kootenai county a survey of the ore ora treatment problem of the pen dorceille dO dis brict will be made the metallurgical investigation vesti gation mentioned will begin during the summer and willbe will be carried on throughout the year by laboratory investigation at the school of mines by the research staff of the bureau of the work already by the bureau the following publications are either being printed or about to be printed bulletin no I 1 copper deposits of the seven devils and adjacent areas bulletin no 2 A preliminary report on the clays of idaho bulletin no 3 A in south central idaho bulletin no 4 the gold resources of central idaho north of the salmon river the U S bureau of mines has also in course of printing a bulletin dealing with the results in the separation of zinc and lead in the ores of the coeur dalene region the work on this having been done in cooperation with the idaho state bureau |
