Show OPEN FOR MINERAL ENTRY A dispatch from washington states that the indian appropriations act just passed contained a provision of great interest to the mining industry of the states of arizona california idaho montana nevada new mexico oregon washington and wyoming section 26 places the power with the secretary of the interior to throw open for mineral entry all indian lands in these states claims are to be filed in the same manner as raining mining claims now located under the mining laws of the united states leases are to be granted by the secretary of the interior for a period of twenty years renewable at the option of lessee with a royalty not less than 5 per cent of net value of ore at the mine all water rights are excepted from such tracts the use of sufficient timber for mining purposes only and additional provision for leasing mill sites is also included over thirty million acres of land will be thrown open to mineral entry under this new law |
