Show NEW PLANT OF THE BUCKBOARD the dry milling and concentrating plant at the buckboard mine johannesburg california under lease by C H white of los angeles has just been completed and was put into operation july the ore is is a low grade free milling gold but requiring comparatively fine grinding to release the values the mill is fifty ton capacity and absolutely dry the only water coming into the camp being for domestic purposes the general design of the plant is very simple making the cost of installation exceedingly cheap for a plant of this capacity and tile the operating costs are reduced to a minimum in operation the rock is hoisted from the mine in a halfton half ton skip and dumped into to a car this is worked on a double track system arranged for dumping either upon a grizzley or tile the ore dump the rock above the grizzley goes to a jaw crusher of tons capacity thus crushing sufficient rock in one shift to take care of tile the mill for twenty four hours the rock from the crusher joins that and discharges to a through tile the grizzley shaking screen screening to 40 mesh material going over the screen is fed to an eccleston peripheral discharge ball mill grinding to 40 mesh the product of this this mill and that through the screen again join and flow by gravity to a bucket elevator which car carries ries it to a storage bin from whence it is fed to the alsol dry concentrating system this dry concentrator manufactured by young tyler of los angeles is the particularly ticul arly interesting feature of the plant inasmuch as it marks a new dep artrue in concentration cent ration being undoubtedly the first practically successful dry concentrating system ever put on the market which handles ore requiring such fine grinding and at the same time of so great capacity better than 95 per cent saving is being made with a twenty to one concentration at a milling cost far below that of any other system no classification fi whatever is being used outside of ordinary screening the remarkable success attained opens a vast dry territory of low grade ore that may be profitably worked where the cost of obtaining water on the one hand or of hauling and milling at some other point on the other would be prohibitive A sudden boom in all the randsburg brandsburg johannesburg atolia mining district is at hand |
