Show IRON BLOSSOM ANNUAL REPORT provo utah march 4 the reports of the treasurer and assistant general manager of the iron blossom consolidated mining company tor for the past year december 1 1916 to november 30 1917 have been prepared for mailing to the stockholders by secretary W lester mangum and are as follows the property and mine equipment remains practically the same as given in the 1916 annual report exploration and development work has not been so extensive this year as last the work and the object of the work done is as follows with the object in view of getting through the beds of lime on the 1900 level and developing a more soluble lime more susceptible to minerals we have commenced sinking no 1 shaft to a depth of 2200 feet on reaching this point 0 o nt it is s the intention of the management to crosscut to the south and east under known ore shoots on levels above which are apparently of a strong enough nature to extend down to much greater depth and recur in more favorable lime rock the extension of the 1700 foot drift from no I 1 shaft to connect with the no 3 in the well known copper ore slopes has been completed and now the ores from this section of the mine are crammed to no 1 shaft and hoisted at a much less cost and by a more rapid method this connection affords a fine circulation of air in those parts of the mine where the air was so bad several hundred feet of a crosscut to the east from the 1700 foot level have been driven with the object in view tv of prospecting for the ore channels which occur i on an levels above but nothing was developed other rock and iron than some barren quartz stained fissures the tintic gintic central mining company pays one half the expense of this crosscut with the intention of extending it into their ground at their own cost after the drift has reached the side lines four hundred feet of a crosscut to the west from the 1300 level shaft no 1 have for ore bearing fissures been driven to explore or veins resulting only in finding small bunches binh of barren quartz and iron stained lime the east vein at no the 1100 drift on 1 shaft has been continued south to a point near the dragon north end line and has developed a commercial body of low grade copper and silver ore suitable for the mill treatment this ore has every appearance of extending down to deeper levels the fiscal year under discussion has been an off year for shipping our ores owing to congested smelters shelters sm elters scarcity of labor and railway car shortage which conditions have greatly hampered the output due to the scarcity of labor and the advisability vis ability of mining smaller streaks of ore from the old the system of leasing has been adopted for the greater part of the mine which has given very satisfactory results the ores from the van which comprise most of the ore shipped to the i lintl tintic c milling company and the copper ores from what is known as the copper are mined under company operations we wish to report that there is no particular immediate cause for alarm bout about a the physical conditions of the mine as there is a considerable amount of commercial ore in sight and we are sanguine as to the developing ve 0 of more ores in the future provided we continue our usual system of exploration and prospect work hecei receipts p ts balance december 1 1916 ore sales accounts receivable lessees lessels Les sees ore sales interest water sales accounts receivable acca acct operation unclaimed wages 1500 total disbursements dividends taxes ore freight sampling plant operating payments account lessees lessels paid lessees lessels insurance balance november 30 1917 total 76 |
