Show MONTANA the Stem winder mine located near fort harrison arrison has been leased to van H fisk who is now proceeding with un watering operations this is a lead silver property of promise from which ore has been shipped in the past but which has been idle for several years charles joyce jr who is leasing on the level of the east butte extension prop erty at butte has opened a promising vein and is now shipping the ore showing is about thirty inches in width and is all of a shipping grade about eight inches of it running better than 6 per cent copper the intermountain mining company which is operating the old amador mine near superior is netting 70 a ton on the concentrates from the new mill which went into operation in may manager oscar states that the ore reserves on the and levels are now opened up sufficiently to supply the mill for several years the ground is developed to a depth of feet manager T B miller of the scratch gravel mine at helena reports that shipments during june will reach a total of about sixteen carloads net smelter returns which have averaged 2300 a car since shipment was begun a year ago are now running about 2000 a carload the mine was recently equipped with a complete steam plant and is being run at a total operating expense of about a month it has been dec decided aided to continue the shaft on the sunshine property in the scratch gravel district to the foot point A six foot vein has been opened at the present depth of twenty three feet showing high values in gold and copper and it is thought that shipments can be started immediately the ground is owned by john macginniss and H I 1 wilson of butte W E cullen of spokane T B miller and mike gordon of helena helen 1 a and others arrangements have been completed for the construction of a milling plant at the custer mine located near winston and owned by charles S the plant will ultimately be used for custom work but for the present will handle ore from the custer only this is a well known property and has a past production record of about 1 it is opened to a depth of feet with six levels the third of which is feet long and is said to be the longest continuous ore shoot in the world |
