Show COPPER PRICES it looks now as though copper is due to reach the thirty cent mark before the end of the year the recent sale of pounds to great britain has completely upset the plans of many of the larger buyers and left them more or less bewildered as some of them have not yet covered their december contracts other large orders are looked for at any time as it is known that the italian government has already made inquiry for a substantial amount for january and february delivery this is regarded as the first of several prospective foreign orders as it is considered probable that prance france an and russia dRussia will soon enter the market for large amounts several of the big sellers have contracted their product ahead until after the first of the year and consequently are out of the market some are sold ahead as far as february for some time now many of the ammunition makers of this country have been purchasing t the metal as they ahey have needed it in the hope that the price would recede enough to justify them in laying in a sufficient supply to cover their contracts they are badly worried by the course of events and are having a hard time to secure enough for their requirements most of them have recently placed orders covering the first halt half of 1917 at prevailing prices but it is the present requirements which cause them anxiety leading producers are asking up to 2912 29 cents for the small amount available for november delivery and a cent less than that for december however the domestic demand is expanding and the unforeseen may at any time push the the price above these figures orders have been recorded for as far ahead as july the present quotations showing allowing 2712 to 28 cents for the first quarter 2714 27 to 2712 27 for the second quarter and 27 cents for later months copper product production imi in this country for october is estimated at pounds which is an increase of pounds over september the november production is to reach I 1 expected about the same figure with a small falling off in december the banner month of the year was may when pounds was added to the worlds supply |
