| Show the alta cottonwood district distri d encouraging reports continue to come in from the alta cottonwood section in salt lake county twenty five or thirty miles southeast of salt lake city continued stormy weather of late has interfered with ore hauling and the getting in of supplies but nevertheless a large amount of work is being done in development and mine exploitation during the past two weeks reports or new ore disclosures have been received in salt lake and with the settling of the canyon roads and also of the weather the hills and canyons of that region should soon represent a regular beehive bee hive of activity in some som e of the mines such as the cardiff the alta consolidated the alta tunnel transportation the wasatch mines the south hecla the columbus extension the emma copper and the west toledo a heavy campaign of development is being carried on with shipments coming down rather irregularly from the cardiff the alta consolidated and the wasatch mines the latter having received settle ment for its last consignment showing 2698 to per ton in silver lead and copper the wasatch mines which has the only equipment for the generation of compressed air at alta lias has a plant capable of supplying several adjacent properties and a pipe line is now being laid to the alta consolidated the south hecla has been a regular patron of the company for a year or two at the present time it is stated at least twenty properties are being worked in the alta cottonwood district included in the list being south hecla wasatch mines alta consolidated michigan utah secret albion emma copper sells columbus extension and west toledo in the atla section on the big cottonwood side are the cardiff maxfield kennebec tar baby big cottonwood consolidated reeds peak east carbonate cardiff extension alta cottonwood and the alta tunnel transportation por tation the alta peruvian mining company of springville Spring ville owning valuable ground in the alta section and in which al IV bird of springville Spring vUIe ville and jolin john W hurd and carl bauer of eureka are interested will soon begin work in mine development the alie companas comp anys claims with one exception are all patented and several years ago the property was productive of some first class ore tile the alta aita price mining company has been incorporated for the purpose of work ing several leased claims in both the big and little cottonwood sections of the district the company is capitalized at divided into 25 cents shares the officers are C W frees president geo P F wasson vice president and E B frees secretary and treasurer main office salt lake city the days fork mining company ben E harker president with office in the boston building will hold a meeting on june 10 at which time action will be taken 1 l 4 A al e tal 1 I V X power house of the wasatch mines co near alta photo by will C higgins on the proposition of increasing the capitalization of the company from shares of 10 cents each to shares of the same par value the increase to be used as treasury stock the property of the company is admirably located and work in its development has been resumed with a small force the property of the wasatch utah mining company is located in the foothills between big and little cottonwood canyons this company is now engaged in the trying out of a new milling process introduced by the koering cyaniding Cyan iding process company and it is anticipated that excellent res results alts will be obtained in which event the company looks for an era of production and prosperity on the local stock exchange alta securities continue to take a leading part and they are largely purchased for investment in the cast the district will undoubtedly make a great showing this summer tile the kennebec in the south fork of big cottonwood and adjoining the cardiff on the north W J craig president ang an manager is pushing work and expects to get into an in the near future the kennebec is a proposition of rare promise and had a fine record of profitable production in the early days of the district work has been begun in the development of the canton on the alta side of the divide and the company expects to make a fine showing this season the cottonwood contact mining company has filed its articles of incorporation the company is capitalized at divided into 10 cent shares the officers and ana directors are james W kinney president henry erickson vice president D C dart dare secretary and treasurer william mckinney and august matson the property of the company is located on the big cottonwood side of the divide and consists of a group of sixteen claims and are about a mile east of holliday the secret mining company is preparing for an active campaign of development in its property near alta |
