Show doings doi i in n ti gintic tintic c district di ct REPORTER RuPORT IR UTAH while there is no one here in tintic gintic ho 10 can give out any authoritative anfor aaion with reference to this new enter ise there are a great many people who ave ve reasons to believe that the details ave ve been pretty well worked out and that will be but a short time until the knight d dern interests commence the construe on in of their new concentrating plant which ill 11 contain the best features of the knight iri ri stensen process and the dern holt pross the knight christensen mill was de royed oyed by ff fire fa some time ago and the di actors d decided emidd d to rebuild levying an as for that purpose but this new ark rk was held up pending the outcome of e deal between jesse knight and george ern the latter has a milling plant in option at park city and at various times has expressed a desire to put up ifa a mill tintic gintic district where there is unlimited entities jm an of suitable ore something that lie he s not been able to find at park city mr rn was here a few days ago in company th representatives of the knight com nies he spent some little time in looking er the proposed site for the new mill it understood that the plant is to be erected the old tintic gintic smelter grounds this site ving many advantages over the old site on n which the knight christensen expert tal mill was constructed s water for the operation of the new mill n no doubt be secured either from the aisea or from the gemini the latter 11 commence pumping about the first of e coming month and there is a line which 11 carry the water direct from the shaft guse ase of this mine to the tintic gintic smelter grounds practically the same conditions exist at the swansea although tile the pumping equipment was transferred from this mine to the dragon when the knight chris mill was constructed within a very short distance of the dragon mine A visit to tile the tintic gintic smelter grounds indicate that preparations are being made for the construction of the new mill as much of the old material is being cleared away the erection of a large concentrating plant by the knight dern interests will undoubtedly stimulate business here in tile the tintic gintic district the plant will perhaps be large enough to handle several hundred tons of ore a day may build mill for scotia while the chief cons people are investigating ti the cost of transporting the ore from the scotia mine in west tintic gintic on which they have a lease and bond to the railroad they are doing some experimental work in an effort to find a process of milling which will make the proper saving on this lead silver ore if it is found that the ore is susceptible to some process of milling the transportation problem will undoubtedly be overcome by the construction of a small mill the scotia is about twenty miles from the railroad and if the mine is able to send out a good tonnage which now seems probable it would be necessary to spend a large amount of money every month for hauling this ore that distance tile the management has about decided that hauling this ore by team is not only too expensive but too slow and if it is impossible to reduce the ore to concentrates on the ground it is more than likely that a trac tion engine will be purchased tile the dump at the scotia already contains several hundred tons of good ore which has been mined during the past four or five months ridge al valley to resume superintendent john H mcchrystal states that the pumps in the gemini are being tuned up and put in readiness for operation on the first of june when extensive operations will be taken up at the ridge valley mine the capitalization of this company has been increased and some of tile the new stock subscribed for by the present stockholders giving the company ample funds with which to thoroughly prospect the big ore zone which makes over into the ridge valley from the gemini when work was discontinued on the lower levels of the ridge valley several years ago there was a large amount of good ore exposed and the lower levels of the gemini which are now under water and which will be drained when the pumps are started up also contain some very rich ore which can undoubtedly be handled as soon as the pumping equipment is placed in running order the tintic gintic standard manager of the tintic gintic standard mining company was in the district during the week for the purpose of conferring with superintendent john regarding future operations at this mine the tintic gintic standard has been idle for the past month or more and it is understood that preparations are being made for the nesum resumption eption of work on the 1000 and 1200 levels where the company has considerable sid erable ore exposed the work on the 1200 level indicates that the tintic gintic stang stana ard people will get their largest ore deposits below that point and if work is to be handled at greater depth some new equipment will have to be purchased at the time mr ordered the suspension of operations on the 1000 and 1200 levels lie he was anxious to discuss the matter of new equipment and new work with the directors of the company and at the meeting which was held a short time ago another small assessment was levied in order that the development of tile the property can be continued along the proper lines and it is generally understood that work will again be taken up about the first of tile coming month superintendent has been keeping the fires going under the boiler and using the steam to operate a big fan which is used in the ventilation of the deep workings of the mine A report which cannot be verified locally indicates that there is a possibility of tile tintic gintic standard being leased or taken over by some other company lower mammoth making money during tile month of april the lower mammoth mine sent out about fifteen carloads of ore and the tonnage will be about tile the same for tile the present month according to superintendent fouyer the companas comp anys force is at work on the and levels while the leasers leaders are busy in various parts of the mine mr fouyer says that some of the lower mammoth leasers leaders have quit during the past few weeks returning to their work at the old Marn mammoth moth property which is once more using a big force but that twenty men are still at work on oil leased ground in the lower mammoth the lower mammoth is still sending out zinc ore although the mine is producing only a small amount of this character of ore under the contract which the mine has with the smelter it is possible to ship zinc ore that carries 30 per cent or better manager dick is of the opinion that the mine will make a profit of nearly on ore that is sent out during the month oz or may there was a small sum in ill the treas nelson a 91 zw 2 mass see W soon t power house of the chief consolidated at eureka utah photo by will C higgins ury at the end of last month and with a chance to increase this sum each month the outlook is quite favorable for the lower mammoth on the 1000 level where a raise is being driven the face shows small bunches of lead silver ore and some values in ill copper this development work is being done in new territory and manager dick is confident that some of the prospecting that is now under way at the lower mammoth will bring in new ore on the level a drift is being driven for the purpose of connecting with the raise from the 1000 level and the machine drills are also cutting through some low grade ore good work at the mammoth one of fintics cs old time producers the mammoth mine seems able to come back and at the present time the mine is using a force of about seventy men and shipping in ill the neighborhood of ten cars af 0 f ore a week earl mcintyre who is in charge of the property states that the present tonnage all of the is coming from practically levels down to the 1800 and that during the present week a connection was made with the ore body in the raise about fifty this is the big feet above the level body of gold silver copper ore which lias has a already been followed for about three hundred feet and a big part of the mines tonnage can no doubt be taken out by way of the level as soon as ore chutes are installed practically all of the mammoth ore carries copper and with this metal at its present high price there should be a good profit to the company there is also a lar large ge quantity of the lower grade ore which may possibly become an asset to the company in the near future may day zinc shipment superintendent griggs states that while the zinc market is in a rather unsettled condition the may day mine will continue the mining of zinc ore which carries better than 30 per cent the company did have a very desirable spelter contract but this having expired it will be feces necessary S ary to sell the ore on the open market but with this metal at its present high price the leasers leaders lea sers who are mining the zinc ore at the may day should be able to do very well the western section of the may day ground from which the lead silver shipments are being taken is looking exceptionally tio nally well and the officials of the mine do not hesitate in saying that the property will be able to pay regular quarterly dividends of 3 cents per share for the remainder of the year there being a sufficient amount of ore in sight to insure this |
