caledonia mine near Kellogg Keli ogg idaho has resumed operations and it is now anticipated that the property will be producing from 1400 to 1600 tons of crude ore and concentrates in the next few weeks one of the stipulations in the compromise agree ement that ended the controversy between the two companies was that a unit of the bunker hill sullivan mill should be set aside for the treatment of ane caledonia ores the plant has been under repair for averal months but was given a trial run recently that proved satisfactory the mill was started running one shift daily last week and is now treating about tons a day during the shutdown connection by means of a raise was provided between the caledonia workings and the long lower tunnel of the bunker hill sullivan permitting the product of the mine to be handled through the latter at much less expense than under the former system of operating and it is estimated that the coni company pany now will average 40 to 45 a ton net on its ore there is an immense tonnage in sight in the mine and engineers regard it as among the long lived producers of the coeur dalene lead silver district charles mckinnis one of the best known mining men in the coeur calenes dA lenes is general manager of the company and operations at the mine practically are under his personal supervision he is increasing his force gradually and anticipates having the mine working again at full capacity before long men are overhauling the blackhorse concentrator in the murray district of idaho to be used for milling the ores of the paragon consolidated mine of which L W stedman is manager new rolls have been added and a hartz jig installed and it is expected that the alterations will be completed this week when operations will start the paragon ores are lead and zinc and it is said the blackhorse mill does good work separating both saving approximately 75 per cent of the values considerable ore already is blocked out in the paragon aej the company intends to open new ground as rapidly as possible to keep the mill working continuously so long as the metal market will permit a profit hundreds of miners are at work in the and in the murray district on prospects well known mines the bear top tied up in the courts for some time under a receivership now is working under a lease the cedar creek is working steadily with a good force of men
