Show HAYSTACK SHOWS PROMISE PROMIS 2 john W geiger and austin K tiernan have returned from nevadas new gold camp haystack west of winnemucca the nearest railroad point being jungo on the western pacific R D maxfield discovered the district located five claims and bonded them to W J merryfield of winnemucca who organized the haystack mining company to operate them several winnemucca people are interested in this company among them being L G campbell james edmunds R S bolam W J merryfield and tim smith A is recorder of the haystack mining district and has established an assay office at the camp the haystack company has developed its ledge for feet with a depth in places ef cf fifteen feet and some very high assays essays have been obtained on june thirty tens of ore taken out during may were shipped from jungo to the selby works california george austin a jungo merchant has several men at work on a lease from the haystack company and has taken out considerable 40 to 50 ore several others have leases also tiernan and geiger have the grenada group about feet southwest of the discovery and have had assays essays of from 20 to 35 a ton they have arranged for development work and will return to the camp later maxfield the discoverer is an old san sal laker and has other properties in the camp where chere there are now forty to fifty people Icea located ted the camp is eight miles from the railroad the town of jungo having good facilities A stage meets all trains george has started a store and saloon at the new camp under the name of the haystack mercantile company |
