Show 0 METAL MINING IN MISSOURI the value of the mine output of silver copper lead and zinc in missouri for the year 1912 according to J P dunlop of the united states geological survey was 34 compared with in 1911 an increase of about this increase was due mainly to the large increase in concentrates sold in 1912 at more than 10 a ton in excess of the average price received in 1911 the production of ne concentrates increased from tons in 1911 to tons in 1912 and that of zinc carbonate and silicate concentrates from tons in 1911 to tons in 1912 the recoverable spelter content of the zinc concentrates which averaged about the same metal content in both years was tons in 1912 against tons 1 in n 1911 the quantity of lead concentrates produced was 1402 tons less than in 1911 the southeast missouri district of disseminated semina ted lead and the central missouri district reported the production of tons of galena concentrates or tons less than in 1911 the production of galena concentrates in the joplin region of southwest missouri declined 1187 tons but the lead carbonate increased tons the output of zinc carbonate and silicate was 2053 tons larger in 1912 than in 1911 this was due almost entirely to me increased sales made by the valle mining company in jefferson county and the empire zinc companas comp anys mine in the wetherill district in howell county the quantity of ore mined in southeast missouri was about tons more than in 1911 but from the sheet ground mines ir in southwest missouri there were milled over tons more of ore in 1912 than ir 1911 and from the soft ground mines over tons more the average recovery of concentrates from ore in all regions was less while the metal content showed very small decrease iu ill all classes of concentrates the output of silver and lead was derived entirely from the dressing of the lead concentrates from mines in southeast missouri the production of silver amount ed to fine ounces valued at a decrease of ounces compared with 1911 the production of copper in 1912 was pounds or about pounds less than in 1911 |
