Show STOCKTON IN 1913 special correspondence stockton utah january 18 1914 the rush valley mining district was a steady shipper to the salt lake valley smelters shelters sm elters during the year 1913 according to the railroad tonnage lepor report for the year past there were cars of oro ore billed to the smelters shelters sm elters the average weight of each car being in the neighbor q hood of forty five tons the big shipper of the district was the bullion coalition mining company generally spoken of as the honorine mine this company has to its credit cars which is the majority of the ore shipped from the district some of this consisted of concentrate and jig dirt the company has done considerable development work during the year with good results the companas comp anys mill which has been idle for some time was overhauled and again put in commission the mill dirt is being mined and milled at the present time with good results there are a few lessees lessels still at work in the upper workings there has been some stray talk of the company going below its drain tunnel level where large bodies of a fairly good grade of ore are known to go down these ore bodies were more or less continuous and of a good size above the drain tunnel and there are good reasons to believe that the ore will hold its own going down the next in line as a continuous shipper is the ben harrison mine the property is being worked under lease by eagle campbell and mills during the year the level has been reopened by a and some good ore is being mined from that level A raise above the level ran into a fair sized body of ore carrying good gold values and better than a half ounce of silver to the unit of lead this has been the most continuous that the mine has produced since it has been under lease there are a number of men at work on other streaks of ore of a smaller size throughout the mine the physical conditions of the property at the present time are probably the best they ever have been since it has been in the hands of lessees lessels les sees J F connor shipped about thirty cars from the old slag dump of camp floyd this was the first in utah the galena king has been in the hands of different lessees lessels during the year all of whom shipped some ore the mine produced around twenty cars of ore during the year the big 4 leasing company operated for awhile in the camp in the early part of the year and got eleven cars of pay dirt to its credit most of this pay dirt coming coining from the old chicago slag dump C R Mi ackinson shipped two cars of the slag from the old chicago dump most of the ore coming from this district is shipped to the american smelting smelling Sm elting and refining kenning companas comp anys plant at murray utah |
