Show THE DEMAND FOR BIG MINES it is safe to say that more money is awaiting investment in big mining propositions at the present time than has been the case for many years past but sales are few and far between for the simple reason that mines cannot be found that will fill requirements quire ments as something more than a hole in the ground is demanded before big investments will be made there Is a glut of prospects on the market but these will not fill the bill with syndicates with millions at their command who insist that the purchase price at least must be blocked out and clearly established in mine workings there are many big mines in the west to be sure but there are not for sale and for the reason that they are largely owned by the very people who are on the lookout look out for more bonanzas of the same character at the present time there are nearly a score of big mining syndicates who are scouring 11 1 the mining regions of the entire world for the right kind of mines no matter what the price they will take them if they are worth it but as a general thing they fail to come up to representations and are turned down one big company alone has had over properties called to its attention of these it is stated only forty were worthy of consideration and final examinations ami nations brought the number down to two and these were not new and virgin discoveries co veries but well developed gold mines this statement leads to two conclusions one of which is that more intelligent prospecting should be carried on while the other is that when a promising prospect is found the owner should develop it extensively and systematically before placing it on the bargain counter then if it is intrinsically worth the price asked it will e easily find a buyer prospective value does not appeal to heavy capital for it asks and demands a sure thing these conditions appeal very strongly to the prospector and the mining man although mining has been carried on in the west for many many years numerous bonanza discoveries are continually being made such as tonopah To goldfield and national it is ia no excuse to say that all of the big mines have already been found for such is not the case and the equal of ton opah or goldfield is liable to be accidentally discovered or found through persistent and systematic effort and not always in virgin territory but often in mining districts which produced their millions a quarter of a century or more ago and when a really promising prospect is found it should be extensively developed before it is offered to the big syndicates now scouring the country for mines not prospects by following this course the owner will make more money in the end if he sells and if he does not he is enriched by the possession of a mine the operation of which will make him independently rich |
