Show FORGED REPORTS in a recent issue of the mining and scientific press of san francisco we notice that R W groo of bingham utah states that an arizona mining company has issued a report or letter over ills his signature and that the letter or report is false and untrue and his signature forged as he had never been in arizona and had never visited or inspected the property of the company it may not be generally known but it frequently happens that such trickery is resorted to by wildcat wild cat and fake companies in order to bolster up and give a color of legitimacy to enterprises in which they are interested and nothing serves this purpose more than to publish a glowing report over the name of a well known and reputable mining engineer little caring for the injury to the engineer that is sure to follow when it is finally demonstrated to the public that the whole proposition is a fake it is often difficult to counteract the viciousness ious ness or to check the baneful influence of forged statements of this character of the thousands who see them and believe them because of the high standing of the alleged author but very few would see a contradiction even if it were made and so it is difficult to undo the wrong that has been done both to the public and to the engineer so imposed upon cases have occasionally come to our notice where just such forgeries have been perpetrated other instances have been known where the reports of mine managers and superintendents have been so twisted interlined interlinked inter lined and revamped that the authors would have difficulty in recognizing them the result being that a portion of the reports would be true and the balance utterly false and yet the signatures of the mine managers or superintendents would be attached thus making them apparently even if not morally responsible for the statements made for the wrong thus entailed upon the public no adequate compensation can be given but those who suffer injury through such nefarious methods have some recourse and this is to take the matter up with the federal authorities who undoubtedly would soon land the guilty ones behind penitentiary bars |
