| Show THE UTAH consolidated boston commercial utah consolidated stock should soon begin to discount the larger production and earnings which will come after its new smelting smelling sm elting contract goes into effect april 1 which is now only five months distant according to its annual report issued some time ago utah consolidated ore yielded an average of about 43 pounds of copper to the ton last year at a cost of cents per pound by the terms of its ills new smelting smelling sm elting contract and with its ability to save 40 cents a ton railroad freight on its ore through direct transportation from the mine to the new reduction plant over its aerial tramway it is figured that the company will save a ton of ore or about 3 cents a pound of copper reducing the cost to 6 cents a pound during the year covered by its last report the company did a very large amount of extraordinary underground development work the object of which was to put the mine in shape to increase its ore output 50 per cent that is from tons to 1200 tons daily the expenditure on this extra development work probably amounted to 1 or iaz and possibly to 2 cents a pound of copper produced As this will not have to be duplicated it may conservatively be figured that when the new smelting smelling sm elting arrangement ran gement is in force and the increased production under way the companas comp anys copper will not cost over 5 to 6 cents a pound an output of 1200 tons daily will give the company a production of pounds of copper annually which should yield a profit of on a 13 cent copper market or 4 a share on the companas comp anys capital stock As utah consolidated already has a considerable sid erable cash surplus and a investment in th estock of the international smelting smelling Sm elting and refining company which now shows it a profit of approximately and on which it is receiving dividends at the rate of 6 9 per cent annually there is no doubt that it will be able to distribute practically all of its earnings in dividends |
