Show GOOD SPRINGS DISTRICT age las vegas nev about forty five miles southwest of las vegas is a rich mining belt goodsprings Good springs ice is about eight miles northwest of jean its station on the S P I 1 L A and S L L R R and is reached daily by stage connecting with trains climatic and living advantages equal those of any mining camp in nevada in winter it never gets colder than 10 degrees above zero F and seldom above 90 degrees in in summer one can work out of doors every day in the year the formation is lime with numerous porphyry dykes traversing it in every direction on either side is an inexhaustible supply of pure water to the north are the potosi mountains and charleston peak with a wealth of native timber the potosi mine has exposed the largest body of zinc ore known it has a record of enormous shipments of zinc and lead ores the monte cristo is a very rich zinc mine the ninety nine has been shipping much copper the district or known mineralized zone is about eight miles by twenty five miles and in it are many good mines this district is very interesting to the geologist and mineralogist by reason of the large amount oi faulting disclosed at the surface and in the opened mines the joplin operators axe are sitting up and taking notice of the large J bodies of zinc here |
