Show THE OUTLOOK since our last comment on the business outlook there have been some fluctuations in the stock market and in the general business of the country the conditions which prevail however are good so far as the basis is concerned the reports from the farming sections all over the united states are improving there will be more money realized from the crops this year than for several years past these prospects have greatly stimulated trade and industry the signs of industrial revival are not few and far between but the evidences are very clearly seen on every hand the momentum is now such that there is no danger of any relapse the railroads have not yet begun to spend the money in improvements that they were spending in 1905 and 1906 but they are getting ready to build great extensions and spend much money in other improvements on account of the favorable rates at which money may be obtained we may look for still more extensive construction work next year perhaps the most striking evidence of the full tide of business is found in the steel trade the month of july when it was thought that it would naturally show some falling off made great gains over every previous month back for almost two years so far the orders for the month of august auguet have been in excess of the business for july prices have been better this month than any time since the cut was made in march the barometer of the market has touched a high point on the dinst it stood at it dropped to a few days later but rallied to on the the prospects are good for higher t prices than those that were reached in 1906 |
