everyone was sas waiting nervously nervous for tor the contest tot W t begin The society s cl eltty t from Denver Deriver came here with a reputation for exceptional work and am everyone everone who heard them on ott Wednesday Ved evening knew the other choruses would have to do remarkably well to beat them The Salt Lake society did noble work but though the individual voices surpass those in any an of or the other choruses es they did not enter upon their task In time Mr McClellan did lid marvelous work with them in the short term he had them under his direction Another week but that is an Rn another another other story stor If IC ever there is a next time the result may be different The work of the other visiting choruses was excellent in shading and in interpretation They The have not and expression very ver clear There was a little tendency to sing a little too heavy heay but the excel excellent excellent lent attention to expression detail and the clearness of or the part singing in the tile thelast thelast last movement were very ver effective Challenge of o Thor The opening of the chorus was really reat superb The parts moved together with Ith excellent unity The Thc tempo effects In expression The parts balanced balance well and the phrasing was chaste haste The Thc pitch lowered very Yer much which made the effect in some places lack sprightliness and und light but the tonal beauty was wai wa very marked and there was a splendid effect on the last lait page I Challenge of oC Thor The start was made a little tamely but in the repetition of the tile first phrase they recovered and the tile first movement ended with fine tonal body bod The was far too fast lacking rhythmic clearness and the tones ton s of the th tenors on the word Nation could have hae been delicacy and lightness could been displayed The singing could have hae been bel n more chaste and finished in style There were some breaks in the rhythm which we could not admire At Atthe Attile tile
