Show MRS M A PEACOCK DEAD I I Pioneer Woman Whose Father Lo Located LaI Located Manti Expires After Long Illness DIness I k kI I 1 I MRS MARY A PEACOCK Special to The April 19 Funeral services will be 10 held In hl Manti Mantl tomorrow for Sirs Mrs Mary A Peacock who died In the home of her son John L 1 Peacock at Sterling Sunday Mrs Peacock was a resident of ManU Mantl but about two months ago she went to Sterling thinking the change might be bene beneficial beneficial tidal to her health She was the daughter of o Mr and Mrs John Lowry and was born In Clay county Missouri November 1834 While she was a young woman her parents became converted to the Mor Mormon Mormon Mormon mon religion and about 1849 they set setout setout setout out for tor Utah after having suffered many hardships They crossed the plains with the th ox teams and landed In Salt Lake LaIe during the fall of 1849 after aCter a long and perilous Journey The following year Mr Lowry Lory was called to locate and start the settlement He arrived where Manti ManU now stands when the snow was very deep He and his daughter and another family lived In their wagons during the winter and in inthe Inthe inthe the spring built their home of logs Mr Lowry was the first bishop of Mantl Manti which office he held for many years In 1854 Miss Lowry was mar married married ried ned to Judge George Peacock who died 31 years ago She was the mother of ten children who are as follows John L 1 Peacock and Roldo Holdo Peacock both of Sterling B L Peacock of Emery Emer r C A Peacock Price Mrs S L 1 Peacock P acock Hiawatha D L 1 Peacock Or 01 all of whom are living and George Mobile Luella and Rosabella dead She also leaves 31 grandchild grandchildren ren and 15 great grandchildren and a twin sister Mrs Bishop Petty of Ster Sterling Sterling ling Mrs Peacock leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss I |
