Frank Eastman, the well-known well-known civil engineer and United States mineral surveyor of Bingham, writes to a friend ia this city con cerning Col. Froiseth, the street fight of Wednesday, and the surveyor general's aflairs. We have beeu per mitted to extract from the letter: "The Tribune makes a mistake in speaking of 'General Kimball's old deputies,' as many, if not most of the deputies were appointed belore his occupancy oc-cupancy of the office, and none art indebted 10 bim personally for appointment, ap-pointment, as be is obliged to appoint any qualified applicant; and the fact should be made public that General Kimball has the support of the deputies depu-ties not because they are officials o his creating, but on account of bis uniform courtesy and gentlemanly treatment aod Btaunch support of the deputies during bis occupancy of the office." |
