Show Grasshoppers. Salt Lake City, April 19. Editors Herald: lo your Wednesday morning's issue I read a paragraph under tbe head of "Domestic Briefs" stating that "the grasshopper o?g in tbe region of Fort S:ott, Kansas, are totally unproductive. unpro-ductive. Tbey should have been hatched by millions before this, but not one of the pests can be found." Last fall quite a large number of the unwelcome locusts alighted here and spent the residue of their lives in preparing pre-paring for n full crop this spring; but here is tbe end of April, nearly, and the newspapers do not chronicle their advent very generally. Is it from the same cause unproductiveness? or is it that they are more loan ordinarily lale in hatching out with the extraordinarily extra-ordinarily early spring we have had? If some of the old settlere who have had grasshopper experience sev eral times, or BOmebody else, will test the matter and let us granger novices '. know about it, do you not think such an experiment would be of benefit to the experimenters and many of their 1 friends? There's millions in It ! Yours respectfully, G. Hoi-mr. I |
