General Mo-Clellau, Mo-Clellau, acknowledging the official j notification of his nomination for gov-1 ernor of New Jersey, eaya : " Not being a native of New Jersey, although ' a citizen and resident of the state for the last fourteen years, I recognize with all l ho more pride the great honor conferred on me by ao large a portion of the citizens of my adopted slate. The fact th&t the nomination was unsought renders it doubly satisfactory satis-factory to me. Being assured that it is the unanimous wish of the democratic demo-cratic parly, I accept their nomination. nomina-tion. The resolutions adopted by the convention have my hearty approbation; approba-tion; and should I be elected governor of New Jersey, I will do all in my power to insure honesty and economy in the expenditures of the state, to secure (be rights of all its inhabitants and promote the prosperity of the people." |
