Show Hot Springs. A few years ago the Arkansas hot springs were comparatively unknown. Enterprising men obtained control of them, and now their fame is resounded resound-ed in many tongues and in both hemispheres. hem-ispheres. Thousands of people visit them every year, and a thriviug town has grown up around them. This was all accomplished by judicious ad vertising. A few thousand dollars spent in telling the world of the Hot Springs, has produced a wonderful harvest for the investors, besides being the means of curing hundreds and thousands of invalids. Salt Lake has hot apringalhut equal those of Arkansas, or any others, in their medicinal qualities, yet for the want of enterprise or bus mesa capacity, capaci-ty, few people are aware of it. Not a fourth of the touriata who come to this city know of the existence ut the springs until after their arrival here; and many come and go without obtaining ob-taining the knowledge. No one j comes here for the benefits ol the sulphur' batha, whereas if it were known that Buch springs were to be found in Uub, thousands of ailing and afflicted people would hasten to Salt Lake for the sole purpose of regaining their health. There is no good reason why this city should doi become a popular resort for both pleasure aud health Beckers. Ttie springs should be advertised, and the medicinal properties made known to the world. The money paid to newB pspers, both local and outside, for directing publio attention to our warm and hot Bpringa would yield a speedy: and handsome return. We doubt if a newspaper in the country contaioB an advertisement of these springs. All the mention they get is from the gratuitous pen of some enthusiastic correspondent or toariat who happens to visit Salt Lake, and while here having accidentally ascertained of their existence, enjoys the luxury of a delightful and health-giving bath. We are sincere in the belief that with judicious advertising the S.ilt Lake sulphur Bpringa would soon become be-come famous, aud be a source of large revenue to the city and territory. |
