In (he Episcopal gen eral convention to-day a message Iroin the house of bishops was amended to allow each diocese a member of the board of trustees of tho general theological seminary for every eight clergymen. A resolution from the committee on canons, declaring it the opinion of the convention that the order of com-moo com-moo prayer could be broken up into distinol aud separate services, was, alter some debate, laid on the table. The rtiport of comuailtue on amendments amend-ments and cintitittion, to whom was referred the memorial from the diocesan conventions of Wisconsin and Iowa, for an amendment bo as to allow the name of the church to be changed to that of the "Cnurch ol America," was then discussed. The report declared that no such amendment amend-ment aB proposed was neceaeury ud tho quenlioii came up on the adop tion of the report. Dr. Uill ol California Cali-fornia read a long letter in opposition opposi-tion to any changoj as proposed. On tbe request of the deputation from Pennsylvania a vote was taken, and by an almost unanimous vote the report re-port was adopted. |
