Show COUNTY CONVENTION. Pursuant to call tbe County Convention of Salt Like County aa-eembled aa-eembled at the City Hail yesterday morning at 11 o'clock. Prof. T. B. Lewis was elected temporary chairman, chair-man, with W. L. Binder, secretary. Messrs. J. R. Winder, George Rom-ney, Rom-ney, D. O. Calder, A. Gardner aod Jf-s. S. Rawlins were appointed a committee cf five on credentials. At a call from the uQombly Bishop John Henry Smith made a brief speech calculated to imprea upon the minds of those preoeui the necessity of ohosiog men of a thoroughly reliable character. Upon tun conclusion of hia remarks the committee on credentials entered and made iheir report, which was adopted without dissent. The convention then proceeded to permnuent organization, which re suited in the selection of Bishop John Henry Smith aa chairman; A. Gardiner Gar-diner and A. Spiers as vice presidents; T. E. Taylor aud W. L. Binder as secretaries secre-taries ; Bishop Orauo, chaplain ; Wm. Nay lor as sergeant-at-arma. Tbe roll call followed, alter which it was rcaolvod that the alternates ba allowed seats in the convention. A motion here prevailed that the president appoint a committee com-mittee of eleven on nomi nations, and tho following were so appointed: D. O. Calder, Fourth precinct; F. Armstrong, Fifth precinct; pre-cinct; H. Dinwoodey, Second; VV. Asper, Third; Adam Spiers, First; Alex. Hill, Mill Creak; Samuel Ben- 1 nion, Taylorsville ; J. 8. Rawlins, South Cottonwood ; Henry Day, ; Mrs. M. Howard, Brinton; A.L.Smith, Coalville. The committee retired and brief npeechea were then made by Measra. Thomas Taylor and Alonzo Hyde, and Mrs. E. B. Wells. The latter Bpeaker had just commenced com-menced when the committee on nominatious reentered nnd made thrir report. A motion was carried that tho report he accepted and tbe names taken up and voted on sepa rately. Tbe nominations reported by the committee were then sustained, on separate votes, aa follows: Commissioners to Locate University Lands L. S. Hills, John Rowberry and John VauCott. It was decided that the nominations for precinct officers made in the various vari-ous precinctB receive tbe endorsement of this convention. Following are tho precincts and nominees: Sandy, Isaac Harrison, justice of the peace; Elijah J. Gui ver, constable. Fort Herriman, James Crane, justice of the pence; V. H. Freeman, constable. Big Cottonwood, Cotton-wood, Jos. H. Brinton, constable. Suear Huuao Ward. Jaa. McGhie. justice of tbe peace; Henry Biasel, constable. A vote of thanks wati then tendered to the chairman and the officers.
