Show Affairs in congress are .badly demoralized. de-moralized. Business is transacted very slowly, the alteration of the rules rotardiug its progress. There nre bills enough before both houses to require threo months' constant work, while only about two weeks of the session remains. The complication of appropriation hills, political bills and private bills is sufflcient to craze the average congressman, and the largest portion of them will have to go over. With a new congress will come a new deal and a change of policy, and few of the measures now pending will ever be heard of again. It is quite time there was a change of parties. The government is as near run into the ground as any machine could be. |
