Show Gone East. Mr. S.im Rcggel left for the east yesterday morning. He will visit the leading cities of the United States and then proceed to Philadelphia, where he intends to make bis future home. Councilor Kateign presented a communication com-munication from O. H. Kiggti, ex-superintendent ex-superintendent of common schools, asking an appropriation to defray certain expenses, which was read and referred to tbe committee on claims and appropriations. Councilor W. R. Smith nreaented G. F. 19, "a bill for an aot for the Bolemnization of marriage," which was read and referred lo the cem-miltee cem-miltee on judiciary. On motion of Councilor Raleigh, C. F. 8, " a bill to provide for the safety of persons employed in ooal mines," waa taken up and read the third time by its title, the title was read, and, on motion of Councilor CIuU', the bill ao passed and waa sent to the house. Counoilor Harrington, chairman of the committee on judiciary, to whom was referred C. F. 11, "a bill to regulate regu-late the mode of procedure in criminal crim-inal cases," reported the same back with amendments. Said bill waa taken up on its second sec-ond reading by sections, as amended. Pending the reading, the minutea were read and accepted. Council adjourned. Benediction. |
