Mank, who has held many important positions posi-tions in the government service, including in-cluding that of consul-general to Mexico, was arrested by the secret aervico officers last evening on charge for selling counterfeit money and committed to jail. Mank at the time of his capture had it is charged $200 in good greenbacks, which had been marked for identification and given to him in exchange for counterfeit currency. Gen. Mank fought in the rebellion, commanding a regiment in the brigade of Gen. Morton, now United States senator. He draws a pension as lieutenant colonel, having been wounded several times. |
