Show Human Culture. ' Editors Herald: Seeing quite an elaborate article in your paper of the 19th, on the thorough breeding of horses, awakens a thought as to the "breeding" of their drivers. While for beauty and strength it is well to cultivate the bat we can get in the animal creation, should we not devote moro thought to tbe human? It is almost an insult to a hih-blooded horse to be driven by Borne low-blooded human being, dtill, while society is what it is, there must be the high and the low; but in tbe name of progression, try and arouse an interest in the human side of the questioa, aud from a scientific standpoint show that it is quality not quantity, that blesses the world by its presence. A few children born under proper condition1, and carefully care-fully trained and educated, are stars in tbe parents' crown, whereas multitudes are burdens and not blessings, bles-sings, in too many iosiances- I am aware I digress in this thought from many who think differently, but the subject is open for discussion, and a very painful one it is, as it lays at the lojndalion of society. So it might not be unprofitable to coming generations gene-rations to give same attention to human culture! Moralist. |
