Be it ordained ly ilu City Council of bait Lake City, That where the grade of any street w thin the limits of tola city haj been e. tab-lie tab-lie bed by the city surveyor, the iide-walka iide-walka of euch btreet shall be leveled so aa lo conform to the eetabliabed grade aud be Daved, or traveled. Sec. 2. The amount of tbo coat ol said improvement shall be estimated and fixed by the City Council, and be assessed upon tbe real estate benefited by such improvement, by tbree commiBsionera, repuiable citizens, who shall be appointed by the City Council to make said assessment in the manner provided in Section 2 of ''Ad Act amending the Charter ol Great Salt Lake City," approved Jan. 14, 1865. Sec. 3. Immediately upon the completion of said assessment, as provided in Baid act, the supervisor of streets shall cause a notice to be published for ono week:, in some newspaper having a general circulation circula-tion in said city, to the effect that any owner of real estate asaeaaed aa afore-eaid, afore-eaid, who shall, within ten days alter the publication of eaid notice, perform, per-form, under tho direction ol aaid supervisor, a proportion of labor in making eaid improvement equivalent to the amount of the assessment against bis said rear estate, such labor shall be accepted as payment of eaid assessment. Sec. 4. At the expiration of the Baid ten days, tbe tax list containing the names of persona assessed as aforesaid, exclusive of the namea of persons who have performed labor as provided in the last eectioD, shall be delivered to the cily oolleotor, who shall collect the taxea eo assessed, and then owing, by distress, in the manner provided by an ordinance of saiQ city, entitled, "An Ordinance to Provide for Assessing and Collecting City Tuxes," passed March 12, 1878, and pay them over lo the treasurer within forty days after the receipt of said list.
