W. JENNINGS & SONS, Importers, Jobbers and Retail Dealers in General MercIiantlNe. STANLEY'S EXPLORATION'S. A Word of Caution by the Harper Brothers. Harper's Weekly of August 3d, contains con-tains tbe following: The narrative of Stanley's magnificent magnifi-cent exploration of the Cougo one of the grandest achievements of modern times is about to be published by Harper & Brothers in two handiome volumes, profusely illustrated with engravings from his - own sketches. The story of thia brave man's adventures, adven-tures, the dancers through which he passed, the Bufferings he eudured, the wonderful discoveries he made, told in his own graphic and energetic style, reads likeachnpter of romance, and no one who takes up the book will be willing to lay it down until the last page is finished. No book of travels equal to thia in interest and importance has been published within the last twenty-five years. We regret, therefore, to learn that an attempt ia making to impose upon the public a spurious work, purporting purport-ing to be a narrative of Stanley's achievements and discoveries. It is a garbled and incomplete Btory, made up from letters necessarily imperfect and fragmentary. Many most inter-) esting and important details were omitted, which appear in Mr. Stanley's Stan-ley's book, and which are necessary to the complete understanding of the great work he haa accomplished. To protect the interests of American readers, we deeiu it proper to warn tho public against attempts to palm j of upon tbem this garbled and i spurious narrative ot his explorations. ' The only genuine and complete ac j count of Stanley's achievement?, written by himself and illustrated by bis own sketches, is copyrighted and published by Harper & Brothers, by special arrangement with the author; and whoever buys any other will ei Hi ply waste his money and cheat himself out of a book which the most censorious of English critics pronounce the most cnairaiug and fascinating story of travel and adventure adven-ture produced iu modern times. Mr. Powers is now canvassing Salt Lake for the above work, and is the only authorized agent. au23 Ladies Shooting. Gallery. Mr. B. F.
