Eeturna from Illinois, as lar as heard from, give Smith, rep., for state treasurer, 54,498, Cronkrite, dem., 34,502; Batas, greonbaoker, 14,737. Returns from the Thirteenth certain that Tipton, rep., is defeated by Stevenson, greenbacker and democrat, demo-crat, by over 500 majority. Nothing definite from tbe Eighteenth district as yet, but both parties claim it. The indications are that the republicans will have a fair working majority in the state legislature, although tho democrats do not concede it. The vote in the county is nearly complete and gives a majority for Hofl'man, sheriff, over Keru, of 3,700; for Mann, coroner, over Cook, 13,000; for republican county commissioners, nearly 8.000. Tbe state treasurer received re-ceived about 15,000. The slate legis lature will, acoording to latest figures and estimates stand as follows: Senate 26 republicans, 25 opposition; house 8L republicans, 72 opposition.' In Cook county the republicans gain 1 state representative and tbe socialists elect 4 members of the assembly. Tbe total city vote is 45,500. Tho congressional district has changed considerably in complexion since last night. Tipton's defeat is assured. There is some doubt of Boyd's election and Foraythe has been elected over Decius. Returns from the Sixth congressional district make Arner'p, rep,, majority 1,776 over Peter, dem. MASSACHUSETTS. Boston, 5. The Benato Btands 36 republicans and 4 democrats.
