AS ORDINANCE RELATING TO BUTCHERING AND SLAUGHTER-HOUSES, Ssc. l.Be it ordained by the Citv Councilof Salt LakeCitvr-Thatit shall not be lawful for anf person or Penons, to erect any slaughter-house or yard, or engage in the businese oi butchering within the limits of said City without first obtaining license therefor, nor at any place or places otner than such as may be designated by said council. Sec. 2. Applications for license under the provisions of this ordinance' shall be made to the Mayor in writ' iag, and licenses shall be issued and signed by the Mayor or presiding oifi- -( Vof the City Council, and attested porxCity Recorder, under the cor- City Thi. op the payment into the five doll&rvof the sum of twenty- Sec. 3. Ahuium, in advance, butchers shall keeppna licensed as they shall record a faitk in which of the age, size and colorscription ma!s by them killed, with tlieO ani-and ani-and ear marks thereon, together the name of the person from whom received and the time when killed; which book shall be open to the inspection in-spection of the public. Sec. 4. All persons engaged in the business of butchering within the limits of this city are hereby required to thoroughly cleanse their slaughterhouses slaughter-houses and yards, once each twenty-four twenty-four hours, and to remove from their premises and desposit all offal in such manner, and at such place or places, aa may be designated by the City Marshal, or his deputy. Sec. 5. It shall be the duty of the City Marshal or his deputy (as often as may be deemed necessary) to visit the slaughterhouses within the limits of this city, to examine the books and see that a faithful record is made of all animals killed, and that the slaughterhouses are thoroughly cleansed, as provided in section four of this ordinance. Sec. 6. Any person violating the provisions ot this ordinance shall be liable to a fine in any sum not less thnn five, nor more than one hundred hun-dred dollars, and on a second conviction convic-tion in addition thereto, his license may be declared forfeited.
