Chaffee has returned to Denver from a long southern trip, well satisfied that there is no country on earth like Colorado New Mexico, he thinks, bears no comparison with it as a mining country. The eight Ottoc Indians who were arrestly recently near Purl Hays and taken to Fort Wallace, were named .Medicine Horse, l'hing-Buti, Little Pipe, Gia-Ka, Dunuiguna, Ha-he-Tape, Wa-na-Gasguu, and Kasiquan. i Tho recent Indian murderers of four emigrants twenty-three miles from Fort Wallace haw not yet been apprehended. Among other effects found with the bodies was a family bible containing a clear and particular particu-lar record of the la nily, and showing that it consisted of nine persons. It is supposed that live of the younger children wero taken captive and are still in the hands of the eavages. A detachment of cavalry is in pursuit, but it is very doubtful whether they will be overtaken. Children s tracks were found in the trail leading lrom the scene of the massacre. MONTANA. A great deal of rich ore is being shipped fiom Coriune to Clancy. A new and important silver discovery discov-ery has been made near Silver Lake. Tne camp is to be known as the "Silver Lake district." Missouri flour, equal to the Dept. made in Montana, is selling at three dollars an.! a half per 100 pounds, and hogs bring from three to tour cents a pound. |
