Show White Sandstone. During a recent re-cent visit to Cacho valley wo much admired ad-mired a whito sandstono, quarried near Hampton's, and taken by rail to bo used in tho building of tho largo new store now in oourso ofcrcctioo for Z. G. M. L io Logan. That building is 80x81 foot, two stories, and will bs a handsome addition to tho buaincsB plaoeo in the northern capital of tho I Territory; while this whito sandstone will add much to its appenrance. Tho j quarry belongs to tho Utah Northern ioompany, and will yield for a loDg time. Tho same quality of rock has boon found near Mcndon, the first station sta-tion of tho U. N. K. H. in Cacho valley. val-ley. It works easily,'. is very soil when first quarried, but hardens with exposure expo-sure to tho atmosphere It is a kind of rock in very common msq in diifcr-ont diifcr-ont parts of Kurope, looking equally as well as tho light-colored granite, and at a distance buildings constructed of it havo a white lappeaianoe that ie-sembles ie-sembles marble. It would bo an excellent ex-cellent stooo.lor.uso by builders in this city, if arrangements oould bo made for shipments at sufficiently reasonable tariff. Thomatter is worth investigating investiga-ting by enterprising builders. |
