Show Straightening the Limbs. Chief-justice MoKean has evidently commenced to straighten the boys under his judicial eye, or members of the bar, vulgarly known as "limbs of of the law." Judge Morgan filed his answer yesterday, through judge Cooper, who kindly volunteered as his attorney, to the order requiring him to show cause why he should not be "disbarred" "dis-barred" for contempt of oourt. And, by the by, we might here reproduce the query of a legal gentleman, yesterday, yester-day, who asked why people would per-1 per-1 B'.st in saying "disbar," as there was no Buch word in the English language; to which the reply might be given that the word is correctly used, and is to be found in Webster's unabridged, and ia Burrill's legal dictionary. Well, judge Morgan'B answer wasn't acceptable, and he was informed that he had until Saturday morning to make a satisfactory satisfac-tory apology; or be disbarred, which brings to mind tho occasion on which one Mr. R. N. Bisk in, whose name is not unknown in legal matters in Utah, pounced upon ono Judge Haw'.ey, au associate justice of the Territorial supreme su-preme court, threatened to kick tho 1 judioial corpus, and to throw Baid cor- i pus down stairs, with various other threatening demonstrations. For these trifling matters he was fined in a hundred hun-dred dollars and sent to prison by the aforesaid Judge Hawley, whore ho was to remain until the fine we6 paid. But Baskia wasn't disbarred, and ho didn't pay the fine either, for Judge MoKean set him on his feet again. Then Loeber is to be looked after, and Huggan's doings aro to be inquired into ; and who noxt will como upon the list for straightening straight-ening out remains for future development. |
