This is a work full of historical and biographical incidents, reviewing Ro-maniam Ro-maniam during tho preseaj century. Well written, it is full of interest and U highly commcuded by eminent critics and reviewers. It is alleged to have been written tt the request of the emperor of France, Louis Napoleon, its first numbers appearing in the government organ tho "iMooiteur." Its publication gave so great offence to Pius .Ninth that its publication in the the "Moniteur" ceased, and the book was rewritten and afterwards published at Brussels.
