Show FOREICN. Hosing Convents. Rome, 20. A committee on the liquidation of ecclesiastic property, appointed under the law for the abolition abo-lition of religious corporations, tq-dny took possession of six convents. The rectors read a protest which the committee com-mittee accepted, and then handed to each inmate a certificate for his future fu-ture income. The United States and Portugese Consuls also protested again&t the seizure of certain portions of Franciscan convent, on the ground that they were the properly of citizens citi-zens of their respective countries. |
