We learn from Mr. C. H. Beckwith thatt the bend on the Beaver, below Star, a dastardly murder was committed by a shoemaker by the name of Cain, formerly for-merly of Pioohe. it appears that a young man by the name of Ericon had ordered a pair of boota from Cain, and from the want of pecuniary means at the time was unable to take them. Meeting Cain, a quarrel arose relative to the boot5; high words enraed, and Cain being intoxicated at the time, drew a revolver and shot Ericson through the side, inflicting a mortal wound. Kricson fell and Cain fired a second f-hot, striking him in the neck. Kricson lived four or live hours, when he expired. The Star miners were so incensed that they proposed to lynch Cain on tho spot, bat Mr. Beckwith and others interfering he was placed in the hands of the ohorifT and sent to Beaver to await the action of the grand jury.
