Show By W. U. Telegraph. TWEED AND THE BI, New York, IS, The deputy sheriff this noon announced his inability to Snd Wm Tweed, after an all night search. The new indictments against Tweed and others are supposed to have been obtained as a safeguard, in case the other indictments do not hold good, and in order to force Tweed's trial Garvey'a plastering bills were offered in evidence before tho grand jury in connection with the cases of many of the ring adherents, and it is understood scores ot men wnose nouses were frescoed at publio expense will be proceeded against New York, IS. A. friend of Tweed's stated at the sheriff's office to-day that he had gone out of the city on private business, and would appear with bail to-vay to answer the charge against him. It is now known that the new indictments were found upon the application appli-cation of Attorney General Barlow, Wbeeler and Peck ham, to meet the contingency of the indictments already pending being quashed owing to their defective oonstxuotion. |
