I trust the day will be celebrated in a manner worthy of the patriotic soldiers whose craves it is intended to strew with fljwers. I hope tbe general gov- 1 ernment tbroueh it Territorial officers, the city throueh its municipal autnorities, and ail branches of every profession and trade will be represented represent-ed in the procession, that the moat perfect per-fect harmony and good feeling may preva I, and that we shall all feel that it was good to have participated in the ceremonies of May 3 J. 1ST3. Morrow, act as chief marshal, and all societies, lodges, companies, com-panies, trade and professions desiring to join in the procession, are respectfully respect-fully invited and will please report to him at his office on or before the 25:h insL, that places may be properly assigned. as-signed. As Decoration Day hi become almost a national holiday, it is hoped that in this ciiy it wiil be observed as such and that the whole people will consider con-sider it a dutj, as well as an honor, to participate in the ceremonies of the day. We hope and expect to see the 30th of May, insL, Decoration Day, celebrated in this city as it should be hy all, as a day dedicated by the American people sacred to American valor. All citizens of our common country again unitedly observe Independence Day, as the anniversary an-niversary of a nation's freedom; and in the hereafter they will equally observe Decoration Day, commemorative of American heroism. |
