Show (By W. V. Tlrph. ARSENIC IN BISMUTH, Washington, D.C., 2. Mrs. Lloyd who was tried at Leesbarg, near this city, for poisoning her children, was on yesterday acquitted. She was charged with giving them arsenic but the evidence evi-dence showed that a physician had prescribed bismuth for one child, while an analysis of the other's dose produced produc-ed arsenic showing that the bismuth contained an amount of arse dig equal to that which the mother of the child was charged with giving as pure arsenic Tho evidence turned on this chemical fact and acquitted the mother much to the surprise of her prosecutors. prosecu-tors. Considerable comment is manifested mani-fested by druggists and physicians and the people generally at the disco vary of arsenic in bismuth which will probably pro-bably do away with its use in medical practice. |
