The Ontario On-tario mine, which has been lately examined ex-amined by professor Claytoo, has over 200 tons of ore on the dumps, of an average value of 8200 per ton. Since the 10th of September last there have been sunk one shaft 105 feet deep, one Bhaft 80 feet, and a tunnel run on the lode 92 feet in length, which will tap the 80 feet shaft at a distance of 185 feet from the mouth of the tunnel. It is the intention of the owners to continue con-tinue this tunnel to the cast shaft, distant dis-tant from the mouth of tho tunnel 397 feet, which will develop a large quantity of ore by the time spring opens. A tunnel of over 80 feet has been ran on tho Como tunnel Bite, which will cut the Ontario lode at right angles about 600 feet east of the point of discovery. dis-covery. Thus it will be seen that Mr. Ho are t and associates have prosecuted work with vigor since they commenced, having sunk and run 357 feet, besides having erected good and 00m for table buildings at the mine. The tunnel on the MoHenry mine is being driven ahead, expecting to reach the lode soon. Considerable prospecting is goiDg on upon other lodes. Dr. Gregory has fine prospects in some of his locations, and it is not to be presumed that the Ontario and Mc-Hcnry Mc-Hcnry are the only valuable mines in this district of minora) wealth.
