Tho heaviest storm ! of tho season set in here early on Sunday Sun-day morning. It snowed hard until Sunday afternoon, followed by high winds, by whioh tho snow was drifted badly, continuing until Monday night. During the storm a Boldier was frozen to death near the town, who is supposed to have lost bis way and succumbed to tho fury of the elements. To day the weather is moderating and the snow is thawing. Tho trains of yesterday aro all nearly on time. The train from the west to-day is on time. Tho Denver trains havo not been interrupted. in-terrupted. There must have been a terrible storm between the North Platte and Grand Island, of which nothing definite defi-nite has yet been received hero, as tho train from tho east, due here to-day, has not yet been heard from, and all the lines of telegraph aro prostrated east of North Platte. A large force of tho Western Union telegraph company's repairers arc at work, and we aro expecting tho wires up every minute, when I will send you a report of the storm east. |
