"Washington, 22. The Secretary of tbe Treasury states that he has received receiv-ed a proposition to sell the Trinity Church property, New York, for twenty-five millions. The proposal comes from parties claiming that the estate belongs to tbe government under the treaty of peace of 1783. Tho secretary sec-retary has ordered tbe letter filed, and it is understood will not consider the offer. 1 The subscriptions, to the new loan arc gradually falling off every day. Secretary Boutwell will not change his financial programme, until ho hears definitely from Judge Richardson in regard to the views of European bankers bank-ers and financiers. The secretary will shortly order the payment of the Bemi-annual interest on the publio debt. The amount is about twenty-eight million. Mr, Medill, of the Chicago Tribune, has accepted the appointment of the civil service commission. Nothing has beon heard from Curtis, of New York, nor Walker, of Georgia, but it is supposed they would have declined before now if they intended to at all. The commission is to convene a week from to-day. In the joint committee on the Southern South-ern outrages yesterday, Stephenson, ol Ohio, offered a resolution to send a sub-committee or tnree into uic uia-turbed uia-turbed sections of the South. The Democrats opposed it, and, on motion of Senator Blair, the consideration ol tbe resolution was temporarily laid aside. Pierce, mayor of Eutaw, Ala., ,was examined, and Judge Richard Busteed, of the United States court oi Alabama has arrived here to give evidence, evi-dence, but is not examined. The recent dispatch to the navy department, de-partment, regarding tbe Corean expedition, expe-dition, was sent by telegraph from Hong Kong, China, and cost the government gov-ernment a large sum of money. The next news is expected by next regular mail from China, by way of San Francisco. Fran-cisco. Bun Francisco JCetri. San Francisco, 22. Arrived this morning, the steamer Moses Taylor, from Ilbnolulu, five days overdue, with 106 passengers, mostly from New Zea land and Australia, bound east. The detention was caused by the collapse of a flue, while 0 miles out from San Francisco, May 24th, by which Nicholas Nich-olas Prendergast and H. Mooney, firemen, fire-men, Paul Nicholas and Wm. Young, coal passers, were instantly killed by scalding ; and Thos. Harrison, engineer, engin-eer, and Oliver Hays, water tender, were scalded so that they died in a short time. Chief engineer Whitney held a survey of the steamer and found her all right, and Captain Bennett decided de-cided to keep her on her way. She made the round trip with but one boiler.
