The author is Jabez F. Cowdery of tho San Francisco bar, who in his preface says that "his aim has been to furnish a comprehensive, clear and reliable guide for the business community commu-nity of the Pacific Coast in all its multifarious departments of industry' and trade. Wc think he has succeeded j admirably. The work is a most valu- able one, and should be in the posses-j posses-j sion of every officer and business man.
