Sum- jner's bill abolishing the board of trustees trus-tees of lho colored schools in Washington Washing-ton and Georgetown, and prohibiting ail distinction among teachers or pupils on account of race or color in tho puhlic schools of the district, was reported. Stockton wanted Sumner to explain the bill, but Sumner declined, and urged the senate to a vote. Bayard wanted an opportunity for the minority to discu?s the bill.
